Meditation During Quarantine-Remember the Blue Sky

Hello!

Visualization is key to meditation and this animation, found in the Headspace App, takes visualization to the next level. Called “Remember the Blue Sky”, this meditation focuses on how the peace and calm we feel during meditation are always with us, just like the blue sky is always there. It says that sometimes, like clouds blocking the sky, thoughts can block feelings of relaxation. However, instead of pushing thoughts away, this meditation encouraged me to notice the clouds (thoughts), acknowledge them, and then let them drift away. The meditation also explained that sometimes there are so many clouds that it feels like a huge hurricane is coming through, and we forget all about the blue sky. However, when this happens, instead of panicking I should try to remember the blue sky, as it is always there. This animation really resonated with me and I expanded the metaphor further by realizing that sometimes I have to just wait out the storm and remember that, not only is the blue sky still there above the clouds but after the storm, a rainbow will appear and I will feel better, something I call, the calm after the storm.
