Hi Everyone!

I have completed the Relationships Course in Headspace! YAY!

Now that I am done, I have started the Mindful Eating Course while continuing to practice the visualization of loving-kindness growing in me and others from the Relationships Course at the end of my meditation.

This meditation focuses on Noting, noticing when you have become distracted by thoughts or feelings, acknowledging that you have been distracted, labeling the distraction as “thinking” or “feeling”, and gently letting go of the thought, returning to what you were doing in the present moment.

This has been especially helpful for me because, in the past, I have struggled with constantly thinking about food, whether planning my meals for the next day in my head while I try to fall asleep, or regretting what I just ate and not enjoying a movie or other family activity, etc. Now, I am really working on noticing this thinking, realizing that it is preventing me from enjoying the present moment, labeling it as “thinking”, and letting it go so I can be content in the present.

Now, I know that food isn’t the enemy, and it doesn’t have to constantly consume me! I can choose whether or not to think about it and being present is so much more important than regretting a decision from the past, or frantically trying to control and plan every aspect of the future.

I hope that I can continue to learn and grow on this everchanging journey of life!
