Dora and the Lost City of Gold Review
Dora and the Lost City of Gold (PG, 1hr, 42mins, 2019) is a wonderful family friendly movie that pleasantly surprised me as well as gave me a good laugh. When I heard that my favorite TV show as a 3 year old was going to be a movie, I assumed that it would be geared towards younger children and be a bore for anyone over the age of 5. Boy was I wrong. This movie was super fun for all ages, with jokes aimed at adults and adventure that would keep everyone engaged (even teenagers). My whole family was laughing the entire movie and we were very happy that we had decided to go. Dora and the Lost City of Gold follows Dora as she transitions from living her whole life in the jungle to moving to the city to live with her cousin, Diego, while Dora’s parents stay in the Jungle to find and learn about Parapata, a golden city that has been lost for years. Dora (or as everyone at her new school in the city calls Dorka) is socially awkward but overly optimistic about everything. However, when she and fellow classmates Sammy and Randy, as well as her cousin Diego, are kidnapped and taken back to the Jungle to find Parapata for the greedy kidnappers, Dora and her friends must find Dora’s parents and Parapata before it falls into the wrong hands. This story has a major twist that fooled everyone in my family but made the story even better as well as a strong message. The experience teaches Dora why it is important to be an explorer not a treasure hunter because explorers explore and discover to learn about and preserve treasures while treasure hunters steal treasures for their own money making purposes. Overall, this movie was great and I would definitely recommend it to any family who wants a rip-roaring time!😃
